NCNM President David J. Schleich and MUIH President & CEO Frank Vitale |
The National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) is one of the most established regionally-accredited schools for naturopathic medicine and Chinese medicine in the United States. Recognizing that we are “kindred spirits” in terms of our philosophy of healing and commitment to the growth of natural medicine, a relationship began to develop. Both schools believed that we could be stronger together than as competitors.
On October 21, MUIH President and CEO Frank Vitale and NCNM President David J. Schleich, Ph.D., signed a formal cooperation and partnership agreement between the two schools. MUIH and the Portland, Oregon, based NCNM will begin working together to offer innovative and exciting opportunities to students and faculty at both institutions.
The collaborative agreement calls for both schools to “facilitate and develop mutually beneficial cooperative activities” that further the mission of both schools, such as:
- Faculty development
- Faculty and student exchanges
- Curriculum development
- Joint training and research programs
- Collaborating on distance, continuing, and online educational opportunities for students and alumni
- Disseminating and publishing scholarly achievements (i.e. publishing research papers)
Founded in 1956, NCNM is the oldest accredited naturopathic medical college in America located in Portland, Oregon. In addition to its naturopathic medicine program, the school offers graduate degrees and certificates in Oriental medicine and acupuncture, integrative medicine research, nutrition and global health.
